A tribute to Día de los Muertos
La Catrina is one of the most recognisable figures associated with the Day of the Dead. The set features a richly decorated dress, brick-built marigolds, printed sugar skulls and two monarch butterflies. One sits on the base, while the other can be placed in the figure’s hand.
LEGO® presents the model as a celebration of Mexican visual traditions and their view of memory, beauty and mortality. The result is colourful and detailed enough to remain on display throughout the year.
Posable, but not fully articulated
Contrary to our original short article, the skeleton is not articulated from head to toe. LEGO® specifically states that the head and arms can be adjusted. This is enough to vary the pose while keeping the figure stable.
The decorated base provides support and completes the scene. With 1,212 pieces, the build focuses on textures, patterns and ornamentation rather than complex mechanisms.

How should it be displayed?
Its height requires clear space above the hat. A dark background highlights the flowers and gold details, while a pale wall emphasises the silhouette. Gentle dusting is still necessary because the figure remains open to the air.

Quick answer: character-led models are most effective when the face, helmet or head sits close to eye level and the silhouette remains easy to recognise. Before choosing a location, check the stable footprint as well as the maximum spread created by arms, wings, weapons or other articulated parts.
Should the pose be neutral or dynamic?
A neutral pose is generally easier to stabilise and allows fine surface details to take priority. A dynamic pose can tell a stronger story, but the centre of gravity must remain secure. Start with the base or feet, then adjust the head and limbs while checking the outline from the normal viewing position.
Should articulation remain accessible?
Yes, if you want to change the scene. Make sure a support does not block joints, jaws, wings or accessories. A slightly more compact pose is often safer and easier to frame than the widest possible pose, particularly on a wall or near a busy area.
How should a tall model be lit?
Diffused side lighting creates shadow across several levels and prevents the front from looking flat. Leave empty space above the head or wings so the figure does not appear compressed. Accessories should sit beside or slightly behind the character rather than breaking its main contour.
Is the LEGO® set included with a Kadris display?
