2026 Madrid Grand Prix: F1 Launches Its New Street Circuit

On 13 September 2026, Formula 1 returns to the Spanish capital for the first time since 1981. The Madrid Grand Prix will be held on the brand-new street circuit built around the Madring, a modern 5.47 km track located near the IFEMA exhibition centre and Barajas Airport.

Madring: a new technical challenge

Designed to combine fast sectors with more technical sections, the Madring is the most ambitious new street circuit on the F1 calendar since Singapore's debut in 2008. Its straights will allow high top speeds, while its chicanes will test drivers' grip and precision.

Spain's second Grand Prix: a unique marketing opportunity

With Barcelona in June and Madrid in September, Spain hosts two Grands Prix in 2026, a setup that directly benefits Fernando Alonso, the Spanish driver racing for Aston Martin and fighting for the title this season. In Madrid, the fervour around Alonso will be comparable to what we see in Zandvoort with Verstappen.

Teams to watch in Madrid

On an unfamiliar track, the opening free practice sessions will be crucial. The teams that best adapt their aerodynamic package to the new layout will have an edge from the very first edition. Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes arrive in Madrid with specific packages developed for this new track.
